A Flood Watch has been issued for all of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas from 4 p.m. Thursday, July 24 through 4 a.m. Saturday, July 25

Tracking heat, returning t-storms, flood risk late-week.

High heat and humidity will continue across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas for the next several afternoons. Periods of sunshine and a few spotty t-storm chances also remain in the forecast, with the best chance for t-storms arriving by Thursday.

Showers and thunderstorms have delivered a break from excessive heat Monday afternoon and evening across the Mid-Missouri River Valley. High heat and humidity will ramp back up by Tuesday afternoon as sunshine returns. Excessive heat is forecast to settle into the region through much of the work week.

A slow-moving storm system has brought rain to St. Joseph, MO, and while showers may linger into Monday, dangerously high heat and humidity are expected to take over through midweek.

Extreme heat returns this weekend and intensifies into next week, with temperatures nearing triple digits and an Excessive Heat Watch in effect starting Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat alerts for all of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas ahead of excessive heat and humidity forecast Monday, July 21 through Wednesday, July 23.

Tracking lingering clouds and mild air Thursday evening, with a warming trend and isolated t-storm chances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

A hot and muggy Wednesday afternoon will give way to a round of scattered t-storms across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday evening and overnight. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds could accompany any storms that form, otherwise garden variety activity is expected.
