Tracking evening t-storm chances, cooler days ahead

Spotty shower and thunderstorm chances will continue across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday evening, as a cold front passes through the region. A risk for isolated severe t-storms with damaging wind gusts and sizable hail exists south of Highway 36 from 5 P.M. to 10 P.M. Wednesday evening. Greater thunderstorm chances, and the highest risk for winds and hail is likely to remain along and south of the I-70 corridor through Wednesday night.

Cooler and drier air will move in following the cold front, leaving behind partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s Thursday afternoon. A second cold front is forecast to pass through the region late Thursday night and early Friday, bringing additional clouds and spotty rain chances followed by a reinforcing shot of below average temperatures. Cool and mainly dry conditions will likely linger through the weekend.
