Tracking isolated t-storm chances, cooler days ahead

A sunny and toasty Friday afternoon will give way to increasing clouds and isolated t-storm chances overnight as a cold front passes through Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. Clouds and spotty rain chances will linger early Saturday, before cooler and drier air settles in by Sunday. Dry skies and below average temperatures will persist through the middle of next week, making for several mild afternoons and cool nights ahead in the extended forecast.

Clear skies and 80s linger Friday afternoon and evening before clouds build in from the north after sunset, with a 20% to 30% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms developing first across far Northern Missouri, before tracking south toward the Highway 36 corridor after midnight. A stray strong or severe storm is possible near the Iowa border with gusty winds being the primary hazard. Thunderstorm activity will weaken and decrease in coverage further south, with a 30% chance of t-showers continuing Saturday morning, and lows falling into the upper 60s. Clouds will give way to sunshine Saturday afternoon with highs in the low 80s, and northerly breezes at 5 to 10 mph. Cooler and drier air is forecast to overspread the region Sunday, promoting afternoon highs in the upper 70s and partly to mostly sunny skies.
