Tracking spotty strong storms late Tuesday

Scattered strong to severe storms are possible across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Tuesday evening and overnight, as a low pressure system passes through the region. Damaging winds and hail are the primary hazards with any storms that develop locally. The highest risk for severe weather is expected to remain along and south of the I-70 corridor, where a few tornadoes will be possible as well. Rainfall of 0.5 inches to 2 inches is forecast across the region through Wednesday. Thunderstorm chances will increase from 30% late Tuesday afternoon to 70% Tuesday night, with lows falling into the upper 60s to low 70s. Wednesday will bring partly sunny skies, with a 30% chance of spotty t-storms and highs in the low to mid 80s. Sunshine and heat will build into the region to finish out the work week and continue through the weekend. High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid 90s for several consecutive days, with heat indices potentially reaching the triple digits.
