Tracking mid-week heat and sunshine

Above average temperatures and mostly sunny skies will prevail across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through the work week. Wednesday is forecast to be the first 90 degree day of the year so far, before temperatures fall back into the low to mid 80s Thursday and Friday. Partly to mostly sunny skies Tuesday evening will give way to clear skies and a slow cool-off overnight. Lows will fall into the mid 60s after midnight with light southeast winds at 5-10 mph. Sunshine continues Wednesday, and southeast breezes will pick up ranging from 15 to 25 mph for the afternoon. High’s Wednesday are forecast to reach the upper 80s to low 90s, likely making it the first 90 degree day of the year for much of the region. A weak “cool front” will pass through the area Wednesday night, allowing temperatures to fall by a few degrees on Thursday and bringing westerly winds at 20 to 30 mph. Highs Thursday will reach the mid 80s, with mostly sunny skies. Dry conditions and afternoon 80s are forecast to continue Friday and Saturday, before scattered rain and t-storm chances return by Sunday.
