Hot and humid conditions will prevail across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through the end of the work week and much of the weekend, between chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Hazy skies are lingering across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Saturday, as smoke from wildfires in Canada filters into the region. Mainly dry and mild conditions will persist through the weekend, with only slight chances for spotty showers Sunday and Monday.

Poor air quality is continuing to linger across the Mid-Missouri River Valley Friday, as smoke from wildfires in Canada blows into the region. An Air Quality Alerts has been issued for the Kansas City metro, and all points north of the Iowa border through Saturday as northeasterly winds will persist allowing smokey and hazy skies to remain in place. Mainly dry and mild conditions will dominate conditions through the weekend, as an unseasonably cool air mass sticks around.

After a very hot start to the week, we’re finally getting a much-needed break from the heat. Throughout the day today, we’ve been blanketed with a decent amount of cloud cover. High heat and humidity will continue across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas for the next several afternoons. Periods of sunshine and a few spotty t-storm chances also remain in the forecast, with the best chance for t-storms arriving by Thursday.

Showers and thunderstorms have delivered a break from excessive heat Monday afternoon and evening across the Mid-Missouri River Valley. High heat and humidity will ramp back up by Tuesday afternoon as sunshine returns. Excessive heat is forecast to settle into the region through much of the work week.

A slow-moving storm system has brought rain to St. Joseph, MO, and while showers may linger into Monday, dangerously high heat and humidity are expected to take over through midweek.

Extreme heat returns this weekend and intensifies into next week, with temperatures nearing triple digits and an Excessive Heat Watch in effect starting Monday.
