Tracking a hazy, mild, and mainly dry weekend

Hazy skies are lingering across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Saturday, as smoke from wildfires in Canada filters into the region. An Air Quality Alert remains in place for the Kansas City metro through Sunday morning. Sensitive groups could be affected by the poor air quality before conditions improve Sunday afternoon.

Mainly dry and mild conditions will persist through the weekend, with only slight chances for spotty showers Sunday and Monday and below average temperatures. Partly cloudy skies and 70s Saturday afternoon will give way to low 60s and upper 50s overnight, with a 10% chance of stray showers by early Sunday morning. Periods of cloud cover and peaks of sunshine continue Sunday, with a 10% chance of stray showers and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 70s. Monday will bring a 10% to 20% chance of PM t-showers with otherwise dry conditions and highs in the low 80s. August heat returns to the area by the middle of next week, as highs return to the mid and upper 80s.
