Tracking lingering clouds, slight rain chances, and cooler air

Spotty showers and lingering clouds remain across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday afternoon, after a stormy start to the day. A slight chance of showers and periods of cloud cover will linger overnight and into Thursday, as a cold front slowly passes through the region from north to south. Below average temperatures and mainly dry conditions will settle into the area through the end of the work week, with afternoon highs running in the mid to upper 70s, about 10 degrees below average!

Tonight will bring mostly cloudy skies and a 20% to 30% chance of stray t-showers. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 60s after midnight with light northerly breezes at 5 to 10 mph. Partly to mostly cloudy skies continue Thursday, with a 20% chance of AM showers and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 70s. Northeasterly breezes will pick up through the day Thursday, at 10 to 20 mph for the afternoon and early evening. Aside from a few passing clouds, sunshine will be more prevalent Friday. Despite the return of sunshine, afternoon highs will remain well below average, rising back into the mid to upper 70s with overnight lows in the low 60s to upper 50s. Mild air and generally dry conditions will persist into the weekend, with a slight chance of showers and t-storms returning late Sunday. Seasonably warm temperatures make a come-back early next week, as afternoon highs climb into the low to mid 80s.
