Tracking Wednesday night t-storm chances, brief cool-off Thursday

A hot and muggy Wednesday afternoon will give way to a round of scattered t-storms across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday evening and overnight. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds could accompany any storms that form, otherwise garden variety activity is expected with only a marginal severe risk. Thunderstorm activity will start off isolated early Wednesday evening, before becoming more widespread after sunset with a 60% chance of rain across the region overnight. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 60s by Thursday morning, with a 30% - 40% chance of t-showers through the early afternoon. Highs Thursday will reach the upper 70s to low 80s, with light northerly breezes and partly to mostly cloudy skies. Heat and periods of sunshine will slowly make a come-back starting Friday and into the weekend, as temperatures surge back into the upper 80s and low 90s. Isolated t-storm chances also linger through the weekend, before a wave of July heat and sunshine settles into the heartland for much of next week.
