Tracking heat, humidity, and sunshine

Hot and sunny afternoons will prevail across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through the start of the work week. Heat and humidity will continue to build across the region through Wednesday, with isolated to scattered t-storm chances return late Wednesday and into Thursday. Sunny skies and low 90s late Monday afternoon will give way to a slow cool-off tonight with lows falling into the upper 60s to low 70s after midnight, mostly clear conditions and light southerly breezes. Sunshine continues Tuesday, allowing afternoon highs to warm back into the low 90s. High humidity will allow heat index values to top out in the mid to upper 90s Tuesday. Wednesday will bring the hottest conditions of the work week, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat indices in the triple digits.  Isolated t-storm chances will return by Wednesday afternoon as a low pressure system approaches the area. This feature will lead to scattered t-storm chances Thursday, and a break from the high heat as afternoon highs will return to the 80s.
