Tracking heavy t-storms, flood threat Tuesday

Rounds of strong thunderstorm activity are continuing to pose flooding concerns and a severe threat across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. The highest risk for damaging winds, hail, and a brief tornado remains south and east of I-35 through late Tuesday afternoon and evening. A Tornado Watch is in effect south and east of the KC metro through 8 p.m. Tuesday.  Between 1 and 3 inches  of rain has fallen across much of the region since Tuesday morning, additional rainfall will continue to support a flood risk locally. As of 3 p.m., multiple flash flood warnings have been posted for the north side of Kansas City, south of Highway 36. A flood watch remains in effect region wide through 7 a.m. Wednesday. Thunderstorm activity will taper off after sunset this evening, with temperatures falling into the low to mid 50s. Partly sunny and dry conditions will return Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Scattered rain and t-storm chances come back into the forecast for the end of the work week, as an active pattern lingers across the Mid-Missouri River Valley.
