Gray skies, rain chances, and below average temperatures will prevail across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through Memorial Day Weekend as a low pressure system slowly tracks across the Central Plains. Mostly cloudy conditions and a 40% chance of showers will continue Friday evening and into the overnight hours with lows in the mid 50s after midnight and light easterly breezes. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible, especially south of the highway 36 corridor late Friday night. Mostly cloudy skies will stick around Saturday, with a 20% chance of showers through the day. Highs will reach the upper 60s to near 70 degrees Saturday afternoon, with easterly winds at 10 to 15 mph occasionally gusting over 20 mph. Widespread rain chances make a come-back Sunday and into Memorial day, with temperatures running 10 to 20 degrees below average as high only reach the low to mid 60s. Periods of sunshine will make a gradual return by the middle of next week along with a warming trend, with afternoon 70s returning by Wednesday.
