Tracking weekend warmth and sunshine

Warm and sunny days are ahead across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas this weekend, as a ridge of high pressure builds across the central United States. Mostly sunny skies and 70s late Friday afternoon will give way to 60s and 50s overnight, with light northeasterly breezes and clear conditions through Saturday morning. The cool start to Saturday will be short lived, as afternoon temperatures surge into the low 80s locally and regionally. Conditions on Sunday will remain warm and dry, with afternoon 80s and overnight lows in the 50s. Aside from a few passing clouds sunshine is expected to persist through the middle of next week. The warming trend will persist into the extended forecast, allowing highs to reach the mid to upper 80s by Wednesday, about 10 to 15 degrees above average.
