Tracking early October heat and sunshine

Summer-like heat and sunshine will persist across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas to finish out the work week and start the weekend. Spotty rain chances and much cooler air return early next week as a more seasonable pattern sets up across the region.

Partly to mostly sunny skies and upper 80s Wednesday afternoon will give way to mostly clear skies and lows in the 60s overnight, with winds remaining light. Abundant sunshine and afternoon heat return Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s each day and light southerly winds.

Above average temperatures and mainly dry skies will persist into the weekend, with a slight chance of showers arriving late Sunday as a front pushes through the region. Seasonably cool air and spotty rain chances follow next week, with highs returning to the 70s.
