Tracking a dry and toasty weekend

Warm days, cool nights, and plenty of sunshine are ahead for Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through this weekend and into next week. Afternoon high temperatures will continue to remain 5 to 10 degrees above average, as a ridge of early fall heat sets up across the heartland.

Sunny skies, light southerly winds and mid 80s Friday afternoon will give way to clear skies and a cool-off overnight. Aside from a few passing clouds, sunshine prevails both Saturday and Sunday with afternoon highs rising into the mid to upper 80s each day.

Above average temperatures and dry conditions will persist through much of next week, making for a bright and toasty start to October.
