Tracking a steamy and stormy weekend ahead
Intense heat and humidity will linger Friday and into parts of Saturday, before rounds of scattered thunderstorm activity develop later in the weekend. Spotty severe t-storms are possible Saturday night and Sunday, with damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall the primary hazards.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect for all of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 8.

Aside from a 20% chance of stray t-storms Friday afternoon and evening, mostly sunny skies and stifling heat will prevail. Temperatures in the 90s and heat indices in the triple digits will linger through sunset, with dry skies overnight and southerly winds at 15 to 20 mph. Lows early Saturday will fall into the mid to upper 70s. Heat will build across the region once again Saturday afternoon, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, mostly sunny skies, and a 30% chance of isolated t-storms. Thunderstorm coverage will increase Saturday night and Sunday with 40% to 60% chances across the area. Thunderstorms may contain damaging wind gusts, and locally heavy rainfall through Sunday night and Monday morning.
