Tracking intense heat, lots of sunshine, and weekend rain chances

Sunshine, heat, and humidity will prevail across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas to finish out the work week and start the weekend, before t-storm chances return to the forecast Saturday night and Sunday.

Mostly clear skies will remain in place Thursday evening and overnight with lows falling into the mid to upper 70s after midnight and southerly winds at 10 to 20 mph. Friday will be sunny, breezy, and very hot as afternoon highs reach the mid to upper 90s and southerly winds persist, occasionally gusting over 20 mph. High humidity Friday will allow heat indices to surge well into the triple digits, bringing an increased risk for heat related illness.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for all of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 8.

Hot, breezy, and mostly sunny conditions persist Saturday afternoon, before isolated shower and t-storm chances develop Saturday evening and overnight. Scattered t-storms will become more likely Sunday, as a front stalls across the region.
