Tracking more heat and rain chances Sunday

It has been a warm and toasty stretch across the St. Joseph region, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s Saturday — about 12 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year.

Unfortunately, the heat isn’t going away just yet. Overnight lows will only dip into the upper 60s and low 70s, offering little to no relief from the unseasonable warmth.

Sunday is expected to be similar, with highs in the low 90s. However, increasing cloud cover will accompany a small disturbance that could bring spotty rain showers and isolated thunderstorms late Sunday evening into early Monday.

Scattered showers are expected to wrap up by early Monday morning, giving way to drier and sunnier conditions. Temperatures will gradually cool through the week but will still remain above normal, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

The next chance for more widespread rain and a few thunderstorms arrives Wednesday into Thursday.
