Tracking scattered thunderstorms and a spotty severe threat

A strong cold front is on its way through our area. As of 5 a.m., it is currently in northern Iowa and will arrive by midday. A few spotty showers are possible ahead of the front. After it passes, there is a threat of severe thunderstorms in our area. Some storms may produce large hail and damaging winds, especially south of Highway 36 and along I-70. Behind the front, temperatures will fall to the upper 40s tonight.

Both Thursday and Friday, highs will be in the low to mid-70s, below average for this time of year. Skies will be mostly sunny and conditions mostly dry, though a few light showers are possible.
