This morning, a line of thunderstorms has been moving through the I-90 and I-80 corridors. So far, the storms have remained sub-severe, and that trend is likely to continue as they track into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. However, severe thunderstorms are still possible, with small hail and gusty, damaging winds.

The western portion of this line is expected to move into St. Joseph by lunchtime, while the eastern portion will track toward north-central Missouri. Afternoon highs are still expected to reach the upper 80s, though cooler temperatures are possible depending on morning showers and cloud cover.

Tonight, overnight lows will fall into the low 70s. A 20-30% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms returns during the overnight hours and into early Thursday morning. These should move out by mid-morning, leaving dry conditions for the rest of the day. Despite the early showers, highs will still climb into the low 90s Thursday afternoon.

Friday will be the hottest day of the week, with highs in the mid-90s. Combined with humidity, it will feel even warmer, as heat index values could reach the upper 90s. It will also be breezy, with sustained south winds between 10 and 15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph.
