Tracking chilly nights, cool days, and dry skies

After a foggy and chilly start to Thursday, sunshine has returned to the Mid-Missouri River Valley for the afternoon. Cool and clear conditions persist overnight, with temperatures dropping into the mid to low 30s, bringing another risk for frost early Friday morning.

A Frost Advisory has been issued for parts of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas along and south of the Highway 36 corridor from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday. Cold sensitive vegetation should be protected as areas of light frost could be damaging, although a hard freeze is not expected. Locations north of the advisory area will also see near to sub-freezing temperatures as well, but have progressed further into the cold season in recent weeks, negating the need for an alert.

Halloween brings cool, dry, and breezy conditions- with highs in the mid to upper 50s and partly sunny skies. Northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph could gust up to 20 mph through the afternoon. Clouds will increase Friday evening and overnight, with temperatures falling into the 40s after sunset and low 30s after midnight.
