Leaves are falling and Home Depot’s 12-foot-tall skeletons are out, meaning it’s time to get into the Halloween spirit. Luckily, this weekend is chock full of opportunities to do so in this week’s edition of See St. Joseph.

October is the time to face your fears, even sensible ones, like not wanting to go over the edge of a 14-story building.

Voices of Courage, however, has challenged the St. Joseph community to face this fear head-on for a good cause. Over the Edge is not an ordinary fundraiser. For this event, volunteers are raising $1,000 to rappel down the Corby Place building. All proceeds support the Voices of Courage child advocacy center. For those who don’t want to participate, you can donate directly to Voices of Courage or support a rappeler by visiting voicescac.org.

For those who love Shakespeare, solving mysteries or exploring Downtown St. Joseph, you will love A Midsummer Night’s Murder.

Enjoy a day of murder and merriment with Main Street Saint Joseph’s murder mystery drink walking tour. Solve the mystery and be put in a drawing for prizes. The investigation will begin at Parkway Distillery where participants will check in, get a wristband, locations map and the first clue. The drink walk goes from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, but be sure to check in no later than 6 p.m.

For those who want less Shakespearian drama and more historical hauntings, be sure to check out Haunted Harris-Kemper this Saturday.

Join in on the 12th annual Haunted Walking Tour of the historic Harris-Kemper neighborhood. Here, St. Joseph residents can admire the classic 19th century architecture, meet past residents and their lingering spirits and even get a psychic reading. The walking tours begin 6 p.m. Saturday with a new one starting every 20 minutes at 302 N. 20th St.

Don’t let this weekend be a forgettable one. Face your fears, talk to a ghost or even solve a murder. For more events, entertainment and activities this Halloween season, tune into News-Press NOW every Thursday for more See St. Joseph.
