Repaving project moves into Buchanan County
By NewsPress Now
Drivers in southwestern Buchanan County likely will face delays into Atchison, Kansas, and Platte County as a resurfacing project enters its final phases.
Work will begin Wednesday, Sept. 11, on Missouri Route 45 in Buchanan County from its intersection with U.S. Route 59 to the Platte County line. Then on Monday, Sept. 16, resurfacing will start on Route 59 from Route 45 to the Missouri River bridge.
Traffic will be down to one lane during the project, with a pilot car guiding motorists through the work zone during the day from Monday through Saturday. That will add time to trips through the area.
These sections of roadway are the last part of a large project that began this summer and involved roads in Andrew, DeKalb and Gentry counties. Herzog Contracting Corp. is doing the work with the Missouri Department of Transportation.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
