Wood, Barbara J. 1939-2025 Stanberry, Mo.

STANBERRY, Mo. — Barbara Jean Hayes Wood, 86 of Stanberry, Missouri, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Pine View Manor, Stanberry, health care center. she was born May 5, 1939, in St Joseph.

She was married on March, 24, 1956, to Rolland “Bill” Mace and had three children. They were later divorced. She then married Ronald J. Wood on Feb. 2, 1979. She worked at Whitaker Cable, Dugan & Lowe Oil, and Woody’s Market. She enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, cookouts, family gatherings, and going out to eat. She was a Chief’s and Royal’s fan. She loved country music and old westerns movies.
Barbara was preceded in death by her ex-husbands, Bill Mace, Ronald Wood and their beloved child; her parents, Virginia Funk-LaBouff, Harry LaBouff, and Joseph Hayes; a brother, Joseph “Skip” Hayes; a daughter, Terri Mace-Meade; and beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include son, Rolland L. Mace; and daughter, Virginia “Jenny” (Darrel) Schildknecht; grandchildren, Courtney Townsend, Chantal (Kyle) Hallowell, Stormie “Paige” (Tyler) Fleetwood, Dakota (Daniel) VanHorne; great- grandchildren, Joseph “JT” Townsend, Jessalyn Townsend, Colten Townsend, Ryder Schildknecht, Levi Hallowell, Harper Hallowell; great-great-granddaughter, Octavia Townsend; plus step great-grandchildren, Harlow, Hudson, Beckett, August, and Samuel. She was looking forward to Montana making her entrance debut in February. Plus aunt to nephew, Logan and his son “Little Logan”; many cousins especially, Calvin R. Funk.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Funeral services 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Chaplain Dennis Jones Officiating, the interment will be at the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, Missouri.
