KEARNEY, Mo. – Rosamond A. Chapin, 86, formally of Rushville, Missouri, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Kearney, Missouri.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. May 10, 2025, at Sugar Creek Cemetery with Pastor Keith Hoover officiating. Rosamond has been cremated under the direct supervision of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors or Atchison Humane Society and may be sent in care to the funeral home.

Rosamond was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Geneva, Indiana, the daughter of Coy and Donna Vee (Campbell) Caraway. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1956. She married Loren “Corky” Chapin on Jan. 5, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Atchison. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2018.

She worked as a secretary at the Disciplinary Barracks in Leavenworth and Lincoln Grain. She also volunteered at hospice and election polling stations. She enjoyed baking, sewing, painting, and making homemade cards. She loved caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, John (Terry) Chapin; daughters, Kristan (Doug) Brown and Robyn (Mark) Cado; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Lauren Chapin; one great-grandchild; and sister, Romona Searey. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
