Jean Marie Handy, 61, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, in a St. Joseph hospital. She was born June 7, 1963, in Topeka, Kansas, daughter of the late Nedra and Roger Handy. She attended Lafayette High School.

She enjoyed line dancing, making jewelry, crochet, and crafts with her grandchildren, and spending time with her family.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: daughters, Violet Kerns (Mark Way II) and JennaRie Embrey (Darrin Mignery), both of St. Joseph; siblings, Bill (Jennifer) Handy, Kenneth (Cindy) Handy both of Topeka, Jack (Janice) Handy, Joyce Handy (Garvin Wright), both of St. Joseph, and Stephen (Sonia) Handy, of Topeka; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb, Missouri.
