Don R. Eggebrecht, 83, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024.
He was born Aug. 17, 1940, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Otto and Mary Eggebrecht. Don graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration.
He began his career at Proctor and Gambler then became the first manager of St Joseph Cablevision. After 18 years he developed a successful investor group of cablevisions in Missouri and Kansas. In 1973-1974 he was president of MidAmerica of CATV. He then became a stock broker with Dain Bosworth and a Raymond James.
Don was active or was president of the following groups Girls Scouts, YMCA, Second Harvest and Red Cross. He was also past president of the St. Joseph Country Club and Booster Club.
Don leaves behind his best friend and loving wife, Mary. They were married for 37 years.
Survivors include five great daughters, Jennifer Osumi (Scott), of Costa Mesa, California, Lisa Roy (Steve), of Rochester, Minnesota, Laura Knox (Kollin), of Platte City, Missouri, Cathy Stuber, of St Joseph, and Becky MacDonald, of Denver, Colorado. Colorado; seven wonderful grandchildren, including Kenedy and Kaelyn Knox, Maggie and Austin Osumi, Josh and Tanner Roy, Remy MacDonald.
Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Reece MacDonald; his parents; and brother, Rick; and sister, Eleanor.
He had a passion for all things golf and spending time with his friends and family.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. A reception will be held following the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to United Way, American Lung and Asthma Association, or Mosaic Life Care Hospice.
