Young, John E. 1940-2024 Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John Earl Young was born on June 3, 1940, to John and Icle Young, in Sheridan, Missouri. John passed away after a brief illness on March 31, 2024, at the North Kansas City Hospital Hospice Center. He was 83.

John grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School. He spent his early adult years in St. Joseph where he worked at several different banks. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in the early 1970’s and eventually became a National Bank Examiner. During all this time, John’s major interest was the United States Air Force. Early on, he joined the United States Air Force Reserves and served our nation for 34 years.

John was an avid skier and was a member of the Kansas City Ski Club. He was also a member of The Masonic Lodge. His hobby was reading and studying history, particularly military war history. John was single and had no children.

Graveside funeral services with Military honors 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, in Leavenworth, Kansas.
