WATHENA, Kan. – Dorothy A. Jermain, 83, of Wathena, Kansas, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at the Wathena Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Wathena.

Dorothy was born on March 1, 1940, in Clyde, Missouri, to Raymond Sr. and Gertrude (Lager) Derks.

She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wathena.

Dorothy worked as a childcare provider, cashier at Fleeks Market, nurses aid at the Wathena Nursing Home, Flower Peddler and served meals at the Wathena Schools.

Dorothy married James Jermain on Aug. 23, 1958. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Louise Rogers and Lucille Frampton; and a brother, Raymond Derks Jr.

Survivors: children, Don Jermain (Donna), Jerry Jermain (Stephanie), Gary Jermain (Sheryl) and Deanna Powell (Rob); 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; sister, Elaine Hamilton; and brother, Marvin Derks (Helen); numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wathena.

Rosary: 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the church, with visitation to follow until service time.

Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas.
