Community members showed out to Krug Park on Thursday to learn about upcoming renovations to the area.

Local officials, community leaders and park advocates spoke at the ceremony.

Parks Director Chuck Kempf explained the purpose of holding the ceremony.

“We just wanted to kind of have that moment where we could celebrate the project and we could kick off with our elected officials and the community and just thank everybody for the opportunity to do this work,” Kempf said.

Renovations will include improvements to many parts of the park, including the amphitheater and several of the children’s areas.

Interim City Manager Clint Thompson talked about why they are renovating the park.

“Just to kind of shine up a gem that has had some age to it,” Thompson said. “And so I think just the, by the success of this turnout shows that there is interest and the excitement of moving forward with renovation.”

Kempf said Holiday Park will not be impacted by the project this year, but it’s possible that it could affect years after. The project is set to be complete by August of 2027.

Funding for the park renovations come from a half-cent parks sales tax approved in 2021.
