Veale

Mike Veale passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Aug. 26, 1961, to Charles and Marilyn Veale, Mike grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1979.

Mike began his career working at Kmart and NuWay before completing his apprenticeship as a union pipefitter. He went on to become a licensed Master Plumber and shared his knowledge by teaching at the Local 45 Apprenticeship School. Mike also graduated from the UA Instructor Training Program at Washtenaw Community College.

Throughout his life, Mike’s work shaped the communities of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas – quite literally, as many businesses he helped build still stand today. His passion for service extended far beyond his trade. Mike volunteered countless hours and served on numerous boards, most recently at the Bartlett Center, Northwest MO Central Labor Council, South Central Buchanan County Fire Department, and the Workforce Development Board of North Missouri. His dedication to helping the vulnerable, no matter their age, was a core part of who he was.

Mike married the love of his life, Cynde Zoubek, and they had two amazing sons, Brandon and Jackson. Even after retiring from his trade, Mike continued to use his skills and compassion to serve others. He volunteered at the KCMO Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, supporting the Kansas City Police Department. He also obtained his security license and enjoyed working security for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Veale; and his son, Jackson Veale.

He is survived by his wife, Cynde; son, Brandon (Alex) Veale; grandchildren, Ben and Eli; and his sister, Leigh Ann (Kevin) Pray.

The Veale family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who supported Mike during his courageous fight against lymphoma.
