Hoskins, Jerry L. 1945-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Jerry Lynn Hoskins, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in St Joseph. Jerry was born Feb. 3, 1945, in King City, Missouri, son of Tommie and Dorma Lea (Yount).

Jerry proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1963 to 1967, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He fought fires, searched for boaters in distress and boarded and searched international vessels and patrolled our coastline, keeping people safe and rescuing those in need under the most adverse conditions. Jerry was an amazing, loving father and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with the family camping, hunting, and fishing. He was also one of the best mechanics who ever held a wrench.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy; and son, Lucas.

He is survived by his son, Roy (Anne) Hoskins; and grandchildren, Thomas, Dylan, and Marian; two great-grandchildren; and several siblings.

Jerry has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. There are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
