Guadalupe “Lupe” Irene Day, 76, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, after a brief illness at her home. She was born Jan. 30, 1949, in St. Joseph, daughter of the late Guadalupe and Rosendo Cruz-Hernandez.

She attended Holy Rosary and St. Patrick’s elementary schools, then graduated Bishop LeBlond and attended two years of college. She worked in the grocery and restaurant industries, working at the family business Andy’s Grocery, and then the A & P market, she also owned and operated Lupe’s Restaurant.

Lupe enjoyed suduko, playing pitch and traveling with her sisters, spending time with her family and her loving grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Altar Society, Mexican Fiesta committee, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Lupe was preceded in death by husband, Paul Joseph Day; her parents; sister, Monica Riley; and grandson, Paul Scott Day.

Survivors include son, Scott (Katie) Day, of Edwards, Missouri, daughter, Paula Jo (Jeff) Cluck of St. Joseph; sisters, Connie Gerstner (Kathy Walker), Juanita Thompson, both of St. Joseph, and Carmen (George) Clinton, Edwards; brothers, Rosendo “Andy” (Judy), Mario (Darlene) and Ruben Hernandez; grandchildren, Danny (Beth Smith) Day, Austin (Billie) Day, Hollie Cluck, Tanner (Brooke) Day, Noah (London) Day, and Jacob Day; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Peyton, Gabby Jo, Monica, Kali, Gabby, Emerson, Knox, Kye, Purdie, and Araya; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fr. Jonathan Davis Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home, with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
