The St. Joseph Mustangs line up for the National Anthem ahead of the 2024 season opener against the Baldwin City Blues at Phil Welch Stadium.

The M.I.N.K. League’s origins date back to 1910 with a charter for competition between baseball teams from Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. The six founding teams were from Auburn, Nebraska, Falls City, Nebraska, Clarinda, Iowa, Shenandoah, Iowa, Maryville, Missouri and Nebraska City, Nebraska. Over the ensuing decades, classifications and affiliations have evolved. Teams have dropped out of the league and new teams from the four-state region have been added.

The current iteration of the M.I.N.K. League continues to provide a venue for college players who wish to develop their skills to enter the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft to play baseball in an environment of increased competition. To maintain their NCAA eligibility, all M.I.N.K League athletes are unpaid. Each team is operated in a similar manner to a professional minor league team, providing players an opportunity to play under the same conditions using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, experiencing overnight road trips, and playing nightly before fans in a stadium.

If you enjoy watching talented baseball players, check out the MINK League.
