Rain arrives ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Happy Friday! Just in time for Memorial Day, several days of rain are heading our way here in the Central Plains. Our first chance of rain is today, with spotty showers possible throughout the day. The latest models are struggling to give a good idea of just how likely rain will be, but I am maintaining a 30-40% chance of spotty showers throughout the majority of the day.
Tomorrow shows rain much more likely for locations to the south. I think we'll see even less rain the the St. Joseph area tomorrow than we will today. That will all change heading into Sunday and Monday, where I am now more confident in numerous showers and storms both days. With that said, if you are planning on doing any Memorial Day celebrations, Saturday is probably the best day to do so. Even then, you'll want to make sure you are flexible with any outdoor plans, and try not to focus everything outdoors.
Temperatures will stay quite cool over the week ahead with highs in the 60s and low 70s all week long. Some days this week will run nearly 20 degrees below average! You may just want to keep a jacket or two on standby with some chilly and rainy days ahead. Have a great weekend!
