Mid-Buchanan @ East Buchanan
A rival that days back decades gets its spotlight on the final week of the regular season. This matchup comes with extra intrigue, as Mid-Buchanan will look to pull off an undefeated regular season on the road in Gower. East Buchanan has won this matchup the last five times the two have played dating back to 2021.
Bishop LeBlond v. Plattsburg
This is the second time these two teams have played this season. The Golden Eagles went into Plattsburg in late September and took down the Tigers 60-12. In the time since that loss, Plattsburg has gone 2-1, and is coming off of a loss last week to undefeated Archie.
St. Joseph Christian v. Stanberry
Whatever changes the Lions needed to make during a three-game losing streak in the middle of the season, it’s worked. Christian has won its last three games, scoring 70 or more points in two of those three wins. Stanberry enters St. Joseph on Friday having lost its last seven games.
Central v. Park Hill South
Last week, Central senior Gabe Fields took his game to another stratosphere against Excelsior Springs. Fields scored eight touchdowns and totalled over 400 yards against the Tigers. Park Hill South enters this game having lost its last seven games, including a one-point loss to North Kansas City last week.
Lafayette v. Maryville
Lafayette will run into another tough opponent on Friday in 4-4 Maryville. Wins have been hard to come by for the Fighting Irish, as they’ve dropped their last games that includes a 74-0 loss to St. Pius last Friday. Maryville enters off of a loss to Savannah a week ago.
Savannah v. St. Pius X
Senior Night in Savannah will happen on a night when the Savages face a team that brings as much stoutness on defense as they do. St. Pius allows just 7.4 points per game to its opponents, while Savannah gives up less than seven points per game.
Benton v. Chillicothe
The best chance for Benton to finally secure a win was last week when then-1-6 Cameron came to St. Joseph, but the Cardinals still came up empty. In fact, they lost by 35 to their MEC foe. Now, Chillicothe will come to St. Joseph having won three of their last five games.
Riverside (KS) v. Centralia (KS)
The battle of 6-1 teams could potentially decide who wins the Northeast Kansas district in Kansas 6A. Centralia is 6-0 in district play and sits atop the district rankings, whereas Riverside is 5-1 and sits at third. Riverside has not lost since its first game of the season in early September.
DeKalb v. W. Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt
The final two games of the schedule were not kind to DeKalb. Last week, they suffered a blowout loss to one-loss South Nodaway with Jefferson 60-7. Now. they travel to Nodaway-Holt, who also only has one loss on the season. If DeKalb were to secure a win, its best chance will be when districts roll around.
