Olathe man seriously injured Thursday after semi overturns in DeKalb County

A 64-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after crashing his semi and overturning near Stewartsville, Missouri, on Thursday morning.

Jianying Chi, 64, of Olathe, Kansas, was westbound on U.S. Highway 36 around 8:45 a.m. when his 2022 Peterbilt 337 traveled off the road, struck an embankment and flipped, coming to rest on its right side, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports.

Chi was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for serious injuries.

It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt at the time, according to crash reports.
