Annual event returns for 37th year

In two weeks, the Midland Empire Farm, Home & Rural Lifestyle Show will mark its 37th year in St. Joseph! This is the longest running trade show at the St. Joseph Civic Arena, and over the years there have been many changes. In the early years it was a Farm Show, but as the years have passed and farming has changed (there are far fewer farmers today than 37 years ago), the show has morphed into more of a rural lifestyle show. Yes, there is still farm equipment, as well as products and services that go along with that, but there are also home products and an expanded Market Shoppes area which features food vendors and shopping opportunities.
This year will be the first year since COVID that there will be two levels full of vendors. Show coordinators and participants are very excited to have a full building once again! The petting zoo, an ever-popular attraction for kids and adults, will be back. New this year will be a kids’ activity area on the upper level!
“We want this to be a family event. Said Cindy Barnes Cornelius, the Event Director, “Vendors love that they can talk one-on-one with current and potential customers about products and services they may need or want. Kids love seeing the tractors and animals. And everyone loves a good deal and fun. It truly is about community!”
Admission to the show is Free. The hours are Friday, January 23 from 10 am. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
