Robertson, Amy M. 1992-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Amy Margaret Robertson was born in St. Joseph, on July 15, 1992 to the parents of Janey Robertson Johnston and Daniel J. Heckman II, both from St. Joseph.
Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Patty Robertson, Daniel and Carol Heckman; and her uncle, Joseph Robertson.
Amy spent her first six years in St. Joseph before Janey and her husband Matthew Johnston moved to Columbia, Missouri where Amy attended Fairview Elementary in Columbia through 5th grade. While in Columbia, she received her First Holy Communion at Our Lady of Lourdes and made lifelong friendships. After 5th grade, Amy moved back to St. Joseph where she attended Saint Francis Xavier for middle school and often reflected upon her great memories. About this time, she found her passion for swimming. She was on the swim team from 6th grade through high school and continuing throughout her life. She went on to graduate from Central High School in 2011. While in high school, her Catholic faith and love for God started to become more prominent, deepening her love for Jesus that were demonstrated through her many mission trips. She had profound knowledge of her faith that taught many of us so much. With Kathleen “Heckman” Winegardner living in the Boulder, Colorado area, Amy moved to Colorado after high school where she made many great friends and got involved with the Saint Thomas Aquinas parish in Boulder. While in Colorado, she worked for Saint Gabriel’s House for single mothers and Bella Health and Wellness, a life affirming faith-based OB-GYN. She was actively involved with mission trips to El Salvador, Mexico City, Sisters for Life in New York City, Totus Tuus youth program and went to Poland and Europe for World Youth Day in 2016. She enjoyed her time in Colorado with her many friends and Kathleen Heckman-Winegardner.
During Amy’s lifetime, she enjoyed spending time with her uncle, Tim Robertson and his wife, Kathleen Kingsley- Robertson. Amy also loved going to visit her grandmother, Carol “NaNa” Heckman and eating her wonderful meals. As a young lady, Amy learned to make pottery with her aunt, Jeanne Meyer. We were so proud of her artwork, Jeanne held a celebration ceremony at her home for all to view all the beautiful artwork. Others took notice of Amy’s talents. With Jeanne Meyer’s guidance and Amy’s artistic ability, Amy won first place in the Ceramic Division at the Albrecht-Kemper High School Regional Exhibition.
Amy had great enthusiasm for all sports. She loved watching and cheering on the Chiefs, Colorado Buffalos, Mizzou Tigers, Royals and professional tennis. Amy’s zeal for sports was a shared common with her uncle, Mark Robertson and grandfather, Dan Heckman Sr. She loved being with her family, practicing her faith, swimming, going to the ocean, going on walks, her coffee drinks, being with friends, hosting parties, reading and music. Amy had a shared passion with her dad, Daniel, of attending music concerts. Amy had such great taste and loved her shopping too. She knew the true meaning of friendship.
In January of 2022, Amy moved to Dallas, Texas to start a new adventure working for Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire. She had a great experience at Word on Fire until December of 2022, when she was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. That is when we saw Amy’s true strength, faith and courage. Her unwavering convictions were so inspiring for all during her battle with AML. She was driven, completing 18 hours of college credit during her illness. The love, support and prayers she received from all helped her so much during this challenging and difficult time.
Amy’s parents, friends, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings meant so much to her. She was all about faith, family and friends. A very special gratitude to her sibling, Patrick for his courageous donation during her battle with AML.
Amy is survived by her parents, Janey and Matt Johnston, Daniel J. Heckman II and Kerry; siblings, Sarah, Jeffery, Patrick and Timothy; step-sisters and brother, Josie, Katie and Daniel Heckmann III (Trey); children of Jill and Daniel J. Heckman; as well as many loving and supportive aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Donations may be given in honor of Amy Margaret to Saint Francis Xavier School, Bishop Leblond High School, Mosaic Cancer Center c/o Heckman Family Healing Garden or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The family received friends and prayed the Rosary on Sept. 18, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass of Christan Burial was celebrated on Sept. 19, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Fr. Ryan O’Neill and Fr. Garrett King con-celebrants.
