Tracking above average temperatures through Friday
We’re already halfway through the workweek, and today is shaping up to be much warmer than what we saw yesterday. Morning temperatures are starting off in the mid- to upper 60s — right around the average for mid-October — but we’ll quickly climb well above normal this afternoon. Highs are expected to reach the mid- to upper 80s, running about 18 to 20 degrees warmer than average for this time of year.
A few light sprinkles moved through early this morning, but most of that rain has already shifted east of Nodaway, Andrew and Buchanan counties by around 7 a.m. As the morning continues, clouds will decrease across the area and sunshine will return — so don’t forget your sunglasses!
Thursday will bring another warm and sunny day, with highs once again in the low to mid-80s.
By Friday, our weather pattern turns more active as a cold front moves through late in the afternoon into the evening. Along with cooler air, the front will bring a chance for a few stronger thunderstorms. Storms are expected to remain isolated rather than widespread, but a few could produce small hail or gusty winds as they pass through.
Behind the front, temperatures will feel more seasonable for the weekend. Highs will drop back into the low 70s on Saturday and the mid-60s by Sunday. Rain chances should wrap up early Saturday morning, leaving the rest of the weekend dry and pleasant.
