Tracking dangerously hot and humid conditions throughout the weekend

Today’s forecast calls for hot and humid conditions — the big story for the weekend.
A heat advisory is in effect for northeast Missouri and northeast Kansas from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Heat index values will range from 100 to 105 degrees each day.
This morning, temperatures are already in the low 70s. Highs will climb into the low to mid-90s, though morning cloud cover could keep them a few degrees cooler. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible, but most areas will stay dry. Gusty south winds will bring in hot, humid air. Tonight, skies will stay mostly dry with a few clouds, and lows will hold in the mid-70s.
Saturday will be the hottest day of the week with more sunshine and continued hot, humid conditions. Afternoon highs will be in the mid- to upper 90s, with heat index values back in the triple digits.
The heat will continue into Sunday and Monday before our next real chance of rain arrives. Temperatures will return to near average starting Tuesday.
