Tracking early week rain & summer-like temperatures
Sunday brought another mild and below-average day across the St. Joseph region, with high temperatures only reaching the upper 70s. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid-50s, making for another great evening to enjoy the crisp, fall-like air.
There’s a slight 10% chance of rain early Monday morning and throughout the day, as very light and scattered showers push east from northeastern Kansas into northwestern Missouri. Most residents will likely miss out on the rainfall Monday, but more rain is on the way.
A small system will move through the area on Tuesday, bringing a line of showers and thunderstorms during the early morning hours and continuing through the early evening. Areas west of I-35 are expected to see the majority of the rainfall, but the system is likely to weaken and become less organized as it moves east across the St. Joseph region. This system is treading to be weak and non-severe.
Temperatures will gradually climb throughout the week. Expect highs in the low 80s by Tuesday, upper 80s by Thursday, and reaching the low 90s as we head into the weekend. That’s about 10 degrees above average for this time of year.
Looking ahead, long-range models suggest above-average temperatures will continue into next week — so you might want to keep those shorts out a little longer.
