Tracking continuing rain chances and cool temperatures
Over the past 24 hours, the St. Joseph region has experienced light rain and overcast skies. Rainfall amounts have varied significantly due to the scattered nature of the showers.
In Doniphan County, the city of Troy recorded just under an inch of rain. Savannah saw over half an inch, while St. Joseph itself received just over one-tenth of an inch.
More rain is on the way. Showers are expected to continue through Sunday evening and overnight, persisting into much of the first half of the week. Unfortunately, Labor Day will be very similar to Sunday, cloudy and rainy. There’s a 60% chance of rain on Monday, with highs expected in the low 70s.
A brief warm-up arrives Tuesday, with highs climbing into the upper 70s and drier conditions moving in—just ahead of the next weather system.
By Wednesday afternoon and evening, a strong cold front is forecasted to move through the region, bringing cooler temperatures along with rain and a chance of thunderstorms. While the system is not expected to be severe due to a lack of key atmospheric ingredients, a few rumbles of thunder can't be ruled out.
Temperatures will drop into the upper 60s on Thursday, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-to-upper 40s due to the cold air mass brought in by this cold front.
If cooler weather isn’t your preference, don't worry—temperatures are expected to rebound by the end of the week. Highs will return to the mid-to-upper 70s by Friday and into the weekend, with dry conditions prevailing.
