Tracking rainy conditions and cool temperatures for Labor day

Temperatures are quite mild this afternoon across the St. Joseph region. We saw some sunshine earlier in the day, but clouds and scattered rain have since moved into the area.

Over the next few hours, additional rounds of rain are expected. As this rain moves through, it will bring cooler temperatures and measurable rainfall throughout the region.

Tonight, temperatures will quickly drop into the low 60s. Highs on Sunday will only reach the low 70s.

Rain chances will persist throughout most of the day Sunday, making for a cloudy and gloomy day across northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.

Labor Day is expected to bring similar conditions. Highs will remain near 70 degrees with scattered showers continuing through much of the day.

Looking ahead over the next one to five days, through Wednesday, the area could see a decent amount of measurable rainfall—possibly more than an inch in some locations.

Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 70s on Tuesday as rain chances continue. However, by Wednesday, temperatures will take a sharp dive. The average high for this time of year is 84 degrees, but Wednesday and Thursday will see highs only in the mid-60s—15 to 20 degrees below average. Overnight lows could dip into the 40s.

Fortunately, by next weekend, drier weather is expected to return, with highs rebounding into the low 70s.
