Hottest day of the year so far expected this week

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Good morning all. It is going to be a warm week in the Central Plains, with temperatures well above average for all of our communities. Today and tomorrow, we'll hit highs in the mid-80s, but by Wednesday, 90-degree weather is on the way.

So far, the warmest high we've seen this year was 86 just a few days ago. If we hit 90, that will be the hottest day of the year so far. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, that is not all that hot compared to our summer temperatures. However, since it'll be the hottest day so far, our bodies aren't quite used to the steamy weather, and we'll need to monitor our body for any symptoms of heat exhaustion.

The heat will only last through midweek as highs cool back down to the low-80s on Thursday. We will reintroduce low rain chances by the end of the week, but as of now, nothing is looking significant. Stay cool all!
