This is my first trip back to St. Joseph in 25 years. Once I got here, I grabbed the dictionary and looked under the term failing city, and there was St. Joseph, Missouri. 

Makes no sense

Why do we send our St. Joseph sewer bill payment to Kansas City? 

Getting the ball rolling

To the callers complaining about the utilities not transferring their equipment over to the new pole and then pulling the old pole, if Evergy or the phone company or Cablevision will not do anything about it, then you call the Public Service Commission. That will get the ball rolling. 

Worse shape than ever

St. Joe at one time was the gateway to the West. There was 100,000 people here. We had everything we needed here, even as a kid. We had the utility companies, we had everything. And in 50 years, I watched St. Joe disintegrate into nothing. This town is in worse shape now than it was 20 years ago. Every time I've left St. Joe and come back here, it's been in worse shape it was before I left.
