News bias

A recent article on your online app reported an individual allegedly threatening to shoot up his former college because they did him wrong. Nowhere did he make a threat against his former high school. Yet you, as a responsible media member, decided to declare his high school affiliation. He went to other high schools as well, but they weren’t mentioned. Are all arrested people in St. Joseph defined by their high school background? I think not! Poor journalism! 

Editor’s note: The St. Joseph News-Press, along with other regional media outlets, including The Kansas City Star and KMBC9 of Kansas City, also noted that Mr. Raczkowski had graduated from LeBlond High School in St. Joseph, MO. While Mr. Raczkowski may have attended other high schools in the area, the last school he attended, and in this case, graduated from, was appropriately included in our news story.
