It’s Your Call for June 5

A very bad decision
Regarding the article in the paper about the new shopping center, senior apartments and restaurant in north St. Joseph, I think that's a very bad decision. I think we continue sprawling out St. Joseph when we have large areas of St. Joseph that need redevelopment. We don't need to keep sprawling out there. It's going to make the city much more difficult to maintain because we are sprawled. There are parts of Kansas City now, large areas that are virtually uninhabited. That's what we're heading for, unless we start to restrict our city, which has a stable or even declining population, to the development that has already occurred.
Favored side of town
I just seen on the news where St. Joe is planning a multi-million dollar project out there at the North Shoppes and stuff. Restaurants, apartments and all that. Multi-million dollar project, but yet, look at Downtown, look at this side of town. Now you tell me that that side of town is not favored.Â
Stay within the laws
To the person who called in the other day saying that the judges were leftist judges and keeping Donald Trump from doing his job, no, they're not stopping him from doing his job. They're just telling him that you got to do it legally. There are three branches of the government: judicial, legislative and executive. well, the legislative part of the GOP has just bowed down to him like a king. The only thing standing between him and tearing our government apart is the judicial part, and they're merely telling him you've got to stay within the constitutional laws.
Excellent recycling program
In all the talk about our landfill problems in St. Joseph, how about using our excellent recycling program staffed by exceptional city employees?Â
