Snodgrass III, David L. 1934-2026 St. Joseph, Mo.

David Loren Snodgrass III came into this world on Jan. 25, 1934, and died on Jan. 4, 2026. Born in Plattsburg, Missouri, to David Loren Jr. and Almina Parr Snodgrass.

When the family moved to St. Joseph he grew up alongside his brother, James Martin Snodgrass. After graduating high school with the class of 1952, David attended St. Joseph Junior College, receiving an associate’s degree in chemistry. He lived and worked in the St. Joseph area until marrying Effie Ernestine “Nene” Boyd on April 22, 1956. One year later they welcomed son, Galen, and seven years later daughter, Alison, both of whom brought joy and love to David throughout his life. David and Nene were able to celebrate their 68th anniversary. He had a gifted memory, loved family and friends, and thoroughly enjoyed living on the farm.

David leaves behind his son, Galen D. Snodgrass and wife, Kim; daughter, Alison Jean Culver and husband, David Culver; as well as six grandchildren and their families, Samantha Thomas, Kathryn Rollins, Doug Snodgrass, Lisa Snodgrass, Evan Culver and Audrey Culver. David also loved being great-grandfather to eight.

David will be remembered as quiet, generous, determined, resilient, and perhaps just a tad bit stubborn. It is our honor to call him Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.

Healing farewell services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at the Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service Plattsburg, Missouri. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, St Joseph.
