NAPA, Calif. – Charles Brent Filley, 70, of Napa, California, formerly of Hunnewell, Missouri, died on Nov. 30, 2025. Charles was born on July 19, 1955, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Frank and Mattie (Duncan) Filley.

He retired from the Missouri Department of Conservation at the Hunnewell Fish Hatchery as an assistant manager until 2011 after 33 dedicated years, and worked at JC’s Auto Parts and Lake Side Diecasting Solutions part time, until 2023. Brent spent his life working hard, helping others, and instilling his expansive life knowledge, and work ethic to anyone who’s path that crossed his. Aside from his family, Brent’s greatest love was participating in activities with the Loafer’s Car Club with his late father’s 1971 Chevrolet C-10 pickup truck.

Family and Friends are invited to attend funeral services, which will be held noon Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at Sugar Creek Church, Rushville, Missouri, with Pastor Keith Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Krista) Filley; daughter, Emily (June) Belew; grandchildren, Jacob, Grace, Julian, and Nora Filley; brother, Bruce (Phyllis) Filley; sister, Patricia (Kenny) Massingill; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Marcela) Massingill, Gina (Michael) Belt, Abigail, Zachary, and Austin Filley.

He is preceded by his parents and granddaughter, Ava Grace Filley. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
